 Inspired by a famous quote from a beloved book, ‘As though a rose should shut and be a bud again’ perfectly explains this collection, and my objective throughout my practice. In Far From the Madding Crowd this refers to the marriage and metaphorical rebirth of Bathsheba as she marries Gabriel Oak and finally finds peace and happiness. By deconstructing and reforming my plastic bags and food packaging I aim to affect their rebirth, their acceptance, and a reassessment of their worth. Here the bags are rolled and ironed, then encouraged to blossom into a full bloom.
